Healthy Penne Arrabbiata

This spicy pasta dish is quick and easy to make and is a great store cupboard standby.




  1. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan and cook the chilli, garlic and half of the basil for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pan of boiling water according to the packet instructions, then drain and add to the pasta to the sauce. Add the remaining basil and toss well. Add a splash of cooking water to loosen if needed.
  3. Divided between 4 bowls and grind over some black pepper. Serve with a leafy green salad on the side.


The sauce freezes well.
